They won't honor the warranty.

I reported that my expensive Scanpan had lost it's non-stick surface about a year after I purchased it. It was used properly and given proper care.

They told me to use baking soda, which would fix the problem....add baking soda to boiling water, let it stand, etc., etc., etc. After 6 months of trying to use the pan, having it ruin the food, doing the baking soda thing over and over and over again, I contacted them again. Sent pictures. Sent and replied to endless emails.

Bottom line is, they don't honor the warranty. Whatever is wrong, it's your fault. Clearly, the pans are so expensive, they don't bother with customer support or expect second-time purchases. I threw the pan out last night instead of sending them a 3rd round of photographs, which would never end in my favor.

Throwing it out was much better. They won't honor the warranty.

Ditto - same exact scenerio. About one year old (two pans), sticking better than gum left on a hot sidewalk.

Same process, baking soda, pictures, etc. etc..

Man, wish I had known that when purchased. Paid more than I liked and justified because of perceived quality and life-time (joke) warranty

We have induction stove. Paid $900 for scan pan set.

We 'baby' the pots and pans. It cooks fine, difficult to clean the interior when pan used for saute or browning. (I don't use spray oils.) One lid shattered. The pot handles are round so do not provide leverage when tilting the pot while holding the handle which keeps "rolling" in my hand.

We show this to visiting friends.

They agree it's a bad design. We will not be buying scan pan products.

I also found that they are non-stick within a year or less. Proper care does not help and if you get in touch with the company about their LIFETIME warranty they tell you where to go and you won't like it.

Their warranty is a con game. Many years ago they honored their products but recently they tell you to drop dead after they give you a few run around things you can do to salvage their/your sad product.

Black hands

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Called Scanpan after spending $500.00 on a set of plans because when I touch the pans they turn my hands black. They told me it was not under warranty because it was my dish washing detergent that damaged the out side of my pans.

I was using "Cascade Platinum" bleach and phosphate free. So now I have these really expensive pans I can not touch or my hands turn black and hand soap and water only gets some of the black off my hands. :( I was told to go buy Bar maid or something like that to scrub my pans with. The man/***hole on the phone kept telling me it was from the bottom of the pan and would not listen that is was the side of the pans.

Then it was my gas stove that did this to my pans. Oh but it was never their problem it was my problem now.

FINISH NOT GOOD!

i thought i was buying something that would replace my teflon pan and be safe. Not looking for complaints first, i heard that it contains PTFE which they clearly hide. Why is it that NO ONE is bringing this to the properly authorities??? It is misleading. Not to mention how hard it is to return the pan base on finish not keeping up with usage. NOT HAPPY! Maybe use a better stainless steel with a better release finish. Lifetime warranty is not a great selling point where you need a lawyer to address your case and probably LOOSE TOO! GOOD LUCK.

Scanpan replacement tempered glass lid exploded! Michael cust serv rep blamed it on me!

Scanpan needs to give US customer service and distributor a wake up call! Worst customer service EVER!

I had great scan pans with annealed glass lids for 20 years. One broke this past November. I paid for replacement, but new model only...tempered glass. It exploded in my 350 deg oven! Room temp food and pot...$20 roast gone, mess, etc.

Michael blamed it on me...I must have dropped it! Claimed never heard that happens. I did a search found several exploding lid episodes....and not just Scanpan..Wolfgang Puck and others. The tempered glass with the metal ring is a problem.

Michael also told me lids are 'accessories', no warrantee! After arguing and 15 minutes of air minutes promised to send new one no charge. A week later, no email, no shipping notice, nothing.

Mine exploded as well-in my hand, while stirring the food on the stovetop!

Guest

Cooking asperges and the lid exploded. Took a picture.

Love my scan pans. Totally shocking!

Guest

My 7" lid exploded. I handwash all my scan pans.

I use the scanpan felt bags to prevent scratching of interiors. It's just the 2 of us in the household. I washed & dried the lid. Set it on the pot.

Next morning it was shattered! During cooking we hear the crackling noise of metal expanding & contracting.

I believe it is flaw in the metal composition. And yes the manufacturers should be liable for a recall and lid replacements.

SCANPAN is Danish GARBAGE. And what makes it worse is that there LIFETIME warranty is a CON-GAME.

Another shattered scanpan lid after using on the stove

Pan coating peels

So far I am returning my 4th scan pan for coating issues! We use coated utensils while cooking with moderate heat and do not use anything abrasive when cleaning. I must say that these pots and pans performance along with the very convincing sales pitch is over exaggerated and misrepresented. We have experience better results and have several other coated cookware that has lasted over 15 years an still performing well and still going strong. We are very disappointed with Scan-pan's junk and looking forward to replace our entire collection. We will not be interested in any product from Scan pan and will question any store that sells their product.

To, Sales@***.com.au Speaks for itself

Hi

I have a problem. One carving knife has fallen and snapped.

Is it possible"to have it replaced under the Scanpan lifetime guarantee? I can provide photos, but can’t find a email address to send to.

Regards

Xavier

I have had the knife set for 3 years and bought it specifically because it was guaranteed "unbreakable" and now you're telling me that the warranty doesn't cover it. Why make the claim? I didn't misuse it in anyway and it hasn't broken from the cutting blade, it has broken from within the handle shaft. See photo.

Can I ask why make such an outlandish claim and then dismiss a customers complaint with a one liner without any reference to any warranty clause?

Please consider this further. Kind regards Xavier cc: Legal File

Scanpan 'scalpels'

Basically, Scanpan include a RAZOR SHARP metal plate - which the CONSUMER is expected to use to secure the glass pan/pot lid to the 'knob.' The point being - SHODDY manufacturing. When I assembled this, I apparently placed it the 'wrong' way - meaning TWICE I cut a finger almost to the BONE when I tried to clean it. Fair enough, I didn't read the instructions. My issue is that there is a SCALPEL SHARP part included as one of the assembly elements of the product. I have written to the company, whereupon I received an email which I would award a GOLD MEDAL in the heavy-weight ***-covering division - which excused the sub-standard/lazy manufacturing - even though I had pointed out the dangers of this piece of metal - to the vision-impaired, children and the elderly or disabled. Added to this, the person who contacted me, let me know she had already contacted the ACCC!! How dodgy is this!! It was like the 'Wacky Races' of consumer complaint! They were determined to 'cut me off at the pass' BEFORE I could take my complaint further!! Unbelievable (and guilty!!) Therese

"Fair enough, I didn't read the instructions."

End of story.

I assembled 5 Scanpan items yesterday, I'm happy to say I didn't lose any fingers.

SCANPAN Pots Made from PTFE

I was about to buy a ScanPan NonStick Frypan, but then I found out that is was made from PTFE. The company cleverly hides this fact by saying their product is "green" and is not made from Teflon.

But Teflon is PTFE and PTFE is known to cause cancer. PTFE is now listed as a carcinogen. So the nerve to sell cookware as healthy when it is made from PTFE.

Of course, I returned the product after much hassles by ScanPans, but they couldn't refuse my return. They did charge me a cancellation fee, but I was happy just to get rid of that terrible and unhealthy product.

Hopefully, I can warn others to avoid ScanPans products like the plague. Who would want to use a PTFE cooking surface, unless they're interested in getting cancer. Stay away from ScanPans! It's a fraudulent and bad company!

Yikes!

I called Calphalon and asked them if these pans are coated with Dupont, Teflon ect. I was told no they are coated with PTFE. It is a known carcinogenic, but dont take my word for it google it and call Calphalon yourself

This guy Glenn is an ***. PTFE is stable and non-toxic; however, it is not intended to be heated above 500 F.

RTFM. PFOA is a carcinogen and the product is PFOA free.

Guest

PTFE does not cause cancer, PFOA does and Scanpan first eliminated PFOA from its final products and is now eliminating it from the processing.

Get a grip. And don't cook anything at high temperatures because even healthy cooking oil get toxic when heated.

Guest

ScanPan pots are made from PTFE. And PTFE causes cancer. Therefore, don't use a ScanPan pot if you are concerned about your health!

Glenn,

You are just plain wrong. I'm a PhD chemist/biochemist, and all ScanPan stuff made in (at least) the last ten years is safe (and good stuff, too, we use a lot of it at home).
